New Book Coming Soon

Sunday, May 28th, 2006

After hundred of phone calls and emails, and many, many months of editing I am pleased to announce that the fourth book in the ‘Secrets Exposed’ series will be available on 1st July 2006.

It’s titled Secrets of Young Achievers Exposed! and features written material for twelve amazing and extremely talented young people between the ages of 16 and 27.

Having just finished reading all of the material for the final time before the book goes to print, I am totally touched and inspired by the wisdom it contains. To give you an idea, here are just a few lines from two of the young people in the book. Please read below and take to heart these words!
——————————————
“My personal definition of success is knowing who you are, knowing what you want and achieving that - no matter what it is. Someone is successful if they can continue to set goals and reach them time after time. Having said that, I also think there is a fine line between being a dreamer and someone that has the will to follow their dream. Successful people are those that may see the potential for doubt around their goals and visions of success, but work hard and achieve them regardless. If you doubt, you lose. Determination and drive will lead to success. You also need commitment. Without commitment, it can be almost impossible to reach that higher goal.”

Chelsea Georgeson - World’s # 1 Surfer

“My perception of life is that it is transient and should not be taken for granted. It should be lived meaningfully. We cannot control the length of our lives but we can control their breadth, depth and height.

If things are holding you back there are a number of things that you should do in order to overcome them. The first is to be grateful that you have challenges. Your challenges are meant to make you better not bitter. If there are no battles how can there be victories? If there is no rain how can you enjoy the awesome sight of a rainbow? The next thing is to take responsibility for your challenges and face them head on. The challenges you attack will teach you patience, perseverance and self-discipline. They will build your character and strengthen your self-belief.

Finally, don’t give up hope. There will be times when the only thing that goes off according to plan is the alarm clock. There is always another chance if you look at things positively and in the right perspective. And whatever your challenges are never indulge in self-pity! It is a waste of time and nobody appreciates it.”

Another Successful Program

Tuesday, May 23rd, 2006

Just arrived back home from Singapore a few hours ago having run another one of our Empower U programs. This time there were around 130 young people in attendance, aged between 13 to 25. Over two and a half days the participants went from being reluctant, shy and self-conscious people, to emerging as respectful, confident and self-motivated individuals, ready to go out and make a difference in the world.

One of the processes we do at the programs is a ‘board break’. This is where each of the young people get given a piece of wood and after a closed eye process they write down on the wood their negative beliefs or any past experiences that they feel has been holding them back. Then after some important mental coaching, they each confront their fears, using their hands to break through the piece of wood.

It’s an unforgettable experience of each of the young people and one that I really love!

Take a ride on a Glacier

Wednesday, May 10th, 2006

Today was an awesome day. My wife organised the most amazing surprise for me!! Firstly we took a ride on a Helicopter (my first time ever), which was simply spectacular and at any other time would have been the highlight of my week! However, the helicopter ride was just the transport to our actual destination…

The magnificent “Fox Glacier”, one of the few glaciers in the world which is actually growing every year! For over two and a half hours we walked on this moving river of ice (moving at a speed of 2 meters a day down the mountain), through crystal blue ice caves, over glacial paths and past magnificent waterfalls. The world is a wonderful place!

Have You Seen That Movie?

Saturday, May 6th, 2006

Back in January I was in New Zealand presenting two goal setting workshops. While there I had a whole bunch of people say, “have you seen the movie The World’s Fastest Indian?” I had to admit that I hadn’t and proceed to ask if I was some kind of Bollywood film about runners in India? They said no it’s the story of Kiwi man (played by Anthony Hopkins) that defines all odds breaking a land speed record by riding is Indian motor cycle.

Four months later the film finally made it to Australia, so went along with my wife and some close friends to watch it. As was promised the story was amazing and it really proved that, “If the dream is big enough, then the facts don’t count”.

Well I am back in New Zealand right now, and was fortune enough to be asked to speak at an event for Network 21 in Invercargill - the place where the movie is set. If you are wondering where Invercargill is, it’s at the southern most tip of New Zealand and has a population of 40,000 people.

Thanks to our very helpful hosts today my wife and I got to go to the block for land where the movie was made and also see the actually real life “Indian”, which is today on display - at the local hardware shop. Here are a couple of pics, and if you haven’t seen the movie, do yourself a favour and watch it!
